Typical fears: pros and cons of moving to a new place of residence

Today we are returning to the topic of moving to another city and will talk about where to start this difficult undertaking.

The first thing that experts recommend doing is to plan the move down to the smallest detail, dividing all preparations into groups: selling an apartment (if necessary), searching for housing in a new place, preparing things for transportation, organizing transportation, settling in a new place, etc. . Although it happens that this event occurs completely spontaneously, caused by some unexpected circumstances. Then there is absolutely no time left for thought and reflection.

In fact, this is all quite complicated. Especially if there are budget restrictions.

By the way, about the budget. To organize a move to another city and settle down, you need to have a reserve of money. At least for the first time. This will save you from many unpleasant situations and stress. It is best if there is some kind of passive income (for example, in the form of a pension) or the opportunity to earn money on the Internet. This can be a good support during adaptation to a new place.

If you imagine a moving plan in the form of instructions, the plan might look like this (at least, that’s how it turned out for me).

Monitoring the situation

Having decided to move to a new place of residence, it is natural to assume that this will require not only material costs, but also certain information and moral resources.

In our case, there was no question of choosing a location. We initially went to this city, regardless of whether it was good or bad, better than our previous place of residence or worse. However, we already had a certain idea about it, since we had already been there more than once at different times of the year.

The weather conditions and climate were well known to us and did not differ radically from the climatic conditions of our previous place of residence. Rather, on the contrary, they were a little more comfortable.

It is especially important for weather-sensitive people to take the environment and weather into account when moving. It will be unpleasant if your health and well-being deteriorate in a new place.

If this is relevant, it is necessary to study the prospects for finding a job and the possibility of building a career. You can view vacancy announcements in advance for the specialty you are interested in. Better yet, prepare and post your resume.

In short, you need to try to collect as much information as possible about your new place of residence: about the social and crime situation, about prices for food and housing, about schools, kindergartens, educational institutions, about the presence of entertainment and cultural centers, about trolleybus and bus routes, etc. Most of this information can be obtained on the Internet or by talking with friends (relatives) already living there. This will help you adapt to the conditions and rhythm of the new city faster and more painlessly.

How to plan and decide to move: pros and cons

In the modern world, residents freely integrate from one city to another, this also applies to Russians, who are increasingly changing their place of residence. If earlier many were afraid to take risks and were content with their region all their lives, today it is quite possible to start a new life. The development of technology, a market economy, and the removal of legal restrictions have led citizens to free swimming, and since Russia is a huge country, it will not be difficult to choose a place to your liking. Another question: What to focus on? How to decide to move? And how to plan it? It's smarter to answer frequently asked questions with pros and cons.

pros

The desire to move to another city arises immediately or is nurtured over years. Sometimes, after visiting a city, you realize that you would like to stay here forever, so to speak, you are hooked by the atmosphere. For other people, on the contrary, compelling circumstances arise to move from their hometown. The status of a family person also influences, which motivates change - taking into account personal needs, as well as the spouse and children. If you group numerous situations, you can determine the main criteria for moving. There are often advantages that come from them, let’s name the most common ones:

  1. Moving to a metropolis and a city with a population of over a million. Large Russian cities attract careerists most often; specialists strive to make a career; entrepreneurs want to realize their plans; there are also those who are looking for experience for self-development. And I must say that for the most purposeful, everything works out. Even responsible family men manage to fulfill their dream of settling down in prosperous regions of Russia, where there are many schools, preparatory courses, universities, large companies and well-developed infrastructure.
  2. The other side of megacities is moving to a village, out of town, to an eco-village, or a small town. If residents of small regions want to move to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk, then from among their citizens there are those who leave them. The reasons are noise, smog, traffic on the roads, the cost of living, which over time has changed people's views on life in the city, especially pensioners. In their opinion, country life seems to be slowing down, and clean air and beautiful nature bring more color to everyday life.
  3. Climatic features. This point affects many Russians, especially from the northern regions, who want and have the opportunity to move, at least to Central Russia, in a better scenario to the south. A less joyful environment is when life in your hometown becomes depressing due to chronic diseases. Therefore, moving to another city can change the lives of people with allergies, hypertension, and people with respiratory diseases for the better.

Minuses

A common belief is that moving is a process that requires a stable psyche and a sufficient amount of energy. In fact, this is so, besides, psychologists say that moving from one city to another is regarded as a way out of the “comfort zone”. And not everyone goes through it successfully! What causes this condition? Let's call them these disadvantages:

  1. Change of conditions. This means that you should be much more flexible and versatile in matters of finding housing, work, moving around a new city, with new neighbors. In the old way, many things happen automatically or out of habit, which does not require energy expenditure.
  2. Property losses. Not everything can be transported; many things are sold, given away or thrown away. And, if the move happened suddenly, you end up selling everything for next to nothing – equipment, furniture, a car. Accordingly, it is necessary to purchase a replacement, and what remains to be transported for a decent fee.
  3. Acclimatization. A person is quite vulnerable to temperature changes, and, therefore, it is not known in advance how one will get accustomed to a region with a different climate zone. Doctors do not advise older people to move to other cities where the climate is very different from their usual one.

Selling your apartment and preparing the necessary documents

The sale process turned out to be protracted. Partly due to the general stagnation in the real estate market, when supply was many times greater than demand. Initially, it was decided to look for buyers on our own by posting ads with high-quality photographs on different websites (Avito, Domofond, etc.). But the apartment did not want to be sold.

Later, realtors joined the search for buyers. As a result, I had to reduce the price twice and give up a decent amount during the final sale. Which, of course, was not part of the original plans. But this was a real chance to sell the apartment about two years after the start of the search. And I didn’t want to miss it.

Finding suitable housing options

In parallel with the search for buyers for my apartment, the real estate market in the areas of interest in the new location was studied. And although the initial plan was to buy a home in a new house, all options were considered: both new buildings and secondary housing. And not only within the city, but also in the nearby suburbs.

Along the way, we had to make adjustments to the estimated cost, location and choice of area. As a result, after a buyer for our home was found, the apartment was purchased not exactly where it was originally planned, and under an agreement of shared participation in a house under construction, the delivery of which was scheduled in 5-6 months. This option was initially categorically rejected for many reasons. In particular, due to the risk of being left without money and housing.

Search for rental housing

In the first version of the plan, this item was missing, because it was planned to immediately move into a finished apartment with finishing touches. But since the move to our own home was postponed, the need arose for rented housing for this time. This means it was necessary to allocate the required amount to pay for it. In addition, it was necessary to find an apartment before the final move, preferably without furniture or with a minimum amount of it (because I had a lot of my things).

Everything worked out well here; a suitable option was found in a house that was located directly opposite our house under construction. A realtor who had previously looked for housing for us to buy helped. I consider it advisable to address this issue specifically to professionals. Having a fairly large database, they will help you realistically assess the market and guide you on prices.

This gave us a great opportunity to watch every day how our house was being built, which is what we did for 5 months of agonizing wait. And later, when moving from rented housing to our own, it turned out to be very convenient. We moved almost all the things ourselves from entrance to entrance. Only the largest and heaviest items were left with the movers.

You can now switch from one type of pension to another on the Internet

A new service has been launched in the Personal Account on the website of the Russian Pension Fund.
With its help, you can submit an electronic application for switching from one type of pension to another. For example, the wife of a deceased husband can apply to transfer to his pension, giving up hers, if this option is economically more preferable to her. Or the citizen has the grounds to switch from a survivor’s pension to a disability pension. There may be other cases where the right to switch to another type of pension arises in accordance with Russian pension legislation. For the convenience of users, all services provided by the Pension Fund in electronic form are combined into one portal on the Pension Fund website. To receive PFR services electronically, you must have a confirmed account on the Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services. Since the key to the PFR Personal Account is the login and password specified when registering on the government services portal. This year, residents of the Novgorod region have already submitted about 5.5 thousand applications to the territorial bodies of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation using electronic services, significantly saving time on processing the documents and certificates they need.

Packing household items and organizing transportation

You can read about how to organize everything correctly, pack things, and prepare them for transportation here and here. The main rule is to do everything in advance and not leave it until the last day. This is a kind of guarantee that all your items will be delivered with minimal loss.

Pack everything you take with you without haste and efficiently. Some people start this process in a week or two (if there are not many things). We barely completed it in a month. True, we had a lot of furniture, books and dishes.

Now, based on the experience of the move, I think that it would be necessary to leave something else in the old place. To correctly assess the situation and understand what it will cost to transport personal belongings (at least approximately), a preliminary calculation of the cost of transporting cargo in an online calculator could probably help. But at that moment, disoriented by the answers of transport companies about the estimated cost of transportation (the amount was stated to be significantly underestimated), it did not even occur to me to double-check all this.

How to complete the service

After submitting the application, the applicant receives a notification of its delivery within the next 24 hours. It also contains an invitation for a personal visit to the selected PF branch.

On the specified date and time, you need to come to the department with your original passport. If this is done by a representative of a pensioner, in addition to two passports, you will need the original power of attorney to represent interests.

After checking the documents, PF employees will complete the process of transferring the pension into an electronic version. From this moment on, the pensioner will receive money on the card.

He will be able to use them for any purpose: cash out or pay by bank transfer.

Check out from the apartment

You need to check out of the sold apartment.

In different cities, different conditions are imposed when concluding a purchase and sale transaction. For example, in the city where our old apartment was, the deregistration procedure was provided for after the sale and purchase transaction had been concluded and the contract had been drawn up. And two weeks were allotted for this. The discharge procedure took us approximately 5 days. Don’t forget to take departure slips, which will be required when registering in a new place.

In the city where we moved, there is a different practice: everyone registered in the apartment had to check out before the transaction was completed.

For reference: The Housing Code allows the purchase and sale of apartments with persons registered in it (after the transaction they automatically lose the right to living space). But to be on the safe side and in order not to subsequently discharge the tenants from the purchased apartment through the court, many prefer not to buy an apartment with registered tenants.

Do not forget to deregister (where necessary), clarify the addresses and telephone numbers of organizations that may be needed for inquiries (for example, pension matters), terminate contracts with companies providing Internet services, telephone, cable television and other organizations at your old place of residence . This must be done so that you are not subsequently required to pay for services that continued to be provided under existing contracts after your departure. This, unfortunately, also happens sometimes.

For the same purpose, just in case, take meter readings (you can take a photo with your phone).

Groups of persons

Those who do not have pension savings are entitled to receive social benefits. This is its main difference from an insurance labor pension. Its size is calculated based on length of service and the number of insurance premiums that were paid during the working period.

There are three main groups of people who receive social benefits:

  • by old age;
  • on disability;
  • upon loss of a breadwinner.

Each category requires compliance with certain conditions for the calculation of monthly payments.

Disabled people of the first group receive social benefits indefinitely. For disabled people of the second and third groups, the pension is calculated for a period of one year; if necessary, it can be extended after passing an examination. Children are deducted until they reach 28 or up to 23 years of age, provided they are studying full-time at a university or secondary school. If a child is employed before the due date, he or she will not be entitled to receive payments.

Organization of departure on the day of sending things

Another important point. You need to think in advance about the time of departure, the type of transport, and what to take with you. If you have your own transport, all this is solved much easier. Our situation was more complicated.

Things were loaded and sent in the evening and were supposed to arrive at the new location early in the morning according to the estimated time. We needed to be present when things were unloaded. This means that we had to be there no later than 9 o’clock in the morning. Consequently, it was necessary to go literally after the car with things. And in our version it was impossible to do this in any other way except by using the services of an intercity taxi.

An hour after loading our things (time was left to clean up the apartment and hand over the keys to the new owners), we went after our things.

What to take with you:

  • Medicines that may be required for the first time: a set of remedies for headaches, stomach, fever, etc. For chronic diseases, all the necessary medications are needed.
  • A minimum set of shoes and clothing for the season, hygiene products, cosmetics, valuables.
  • A small supply of food (tea, coffee, sandwiches, cookies, etc.).
  • Documentation. If something requires changes, additions, clarifications (for example, you need to change your passport, get SNILS, a driver’s license, issue some documents for children), it is better to do this in advance.

If you have a cat or dog that you are taking with you, you must provide everything necessary for its transportation.

It was simply impossible to leave without the family pet. We would never leave Vasily the cat. For our four-legged family member, moving seemed like a real nightmare, probably already at the stage of loading things into the car. Strangers and frightening sounds forced him to hide in the farthest corner of the loggia. And this despite the fact that two days earlier we started giving him special drops for animals to reduce stress.

Overall, he endured the journey remarkably well and behaved very well. He spent the travel time (approximately 8 hours) in a rigid carrier on his lap completely calmly. Sometimes, however, he meowed pitifully. And yet, cats should not be fed before the trip, and it is better not to do this in the morning on the day of departure.

Who receives social pension

It is paid to segments of the population who are not entitled to receive insurance contributions.

The following categories of citizens are defined for payments:

  • disabled people of groups 1 – 3;
  • orphans, disabled children and minors without parental care;
  • persons living in the regions of the Far North;
  • citizens of retirement age, men - 65 years old, women - 60 years old, who are not entitled to an insurance type of pension.

Before a pension is assigned, documents are verified. Persons classified as disabled undergo a medical commission and receive a certificate from a medical and social examination. The main condition is the complete absence of length of service and insurance contributions; a single day of experience is not allowed.

Children who have lost one or two parents at once can receive monthly payments. In the event of the loss of a breadwinner, social pension is accrued only if the deceased family member did not have insurance coverage. Otherwise, an insurance pension will be paid. Survivor benefits are paid to children under 18 years of age. If a child becomes a student at a university or secondary school and continues his studies on a full-time basis, the period is extended until he reaches the age of 23.

For people living in the regions of the Far North, retirement age comes earlier. For women – 50, for men – 55 years. To process payments, it is necessary that the person permanently resides in remote northern regions. The represented group also includes the indigenous peoples of the north: Eskimos, Chukchi, Kerek, Lamut.

The monthly rate is directly related to the category under which the person applying for social security qualifies. In 2020, the size of the social pension will be revised.

To sum it up...

No matter how carefully you prepare and think through all the details, there is always a factor of surprise that can easily unsettle you, disrupt all plans and lead to nervous tension. To prevent this from happening, psychologists advise, first of all, by making an effort on yourself, try to calm down as much as possible.

Relocating to another city is a very troublesome and unpleasant matter in some aspects (the inevitability of minor losses, the need to leave a familiar habitat, adaptation to new conditions, a change in the rhythm of life). But if you look from the other side, these are new opportunities and prospects, new acquaintances and people. And in most cases (even if it is a forced move to another city) it is a joyful event. The main thing is more positive and good mood.

And finally, a little advice from experts - write down your plans. This will make it easier to systematize information, allow you to correct something, remember something. In the pre-move bustle, many things fall out of sight, and you may forget to do something important. Bye bye…
